Introspection--Part 1

I am an introspective person. I believe a deep yearning to understand myself has always existed within. As a young woman I eagerly anticipated the lightweight quizzes that came in monthly magazines. As I got older and entered college I was exposed to Meyer's Briggs and a whole new world opened for me. This wasn't your average "extrovert/introvert" quiz found in Teen Magazine; this was a much more in depth questionnaire with compelling results. I found myself with a high degree of Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging, or INFJ. As I read the description I felt very much like Roberta Flack in "Killing Me Softly".

I heard he sang a good song
I heard he had a style
And so I came to see him
To listen for a while
And there he was this young boy
A stranger to my eyes

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

I felt all flushed with fever
Embarassed by the crowd
I felt he found my letters
And read each one out loud
I prayed that he would finish
But he just kept right on

He sang as if he knew me
In all my dark despair
And then he looked right through me
As if I wasn't there
And he just kept on singing
Singing clear and strong

Strumming my pain with his fingers
Singing my life with his words
Killing me softly with his song
Killing me softly with his song
Telling my whole life with his words
Killing me softly with his song

I was stunned. I felt exposed and validated; unique and one of many; understood and mysterious.  I was fascinated. What is an INFJ?  Onward, Gentle  Reader:

Go ahead and take the quiz and find out more about yourself. It will be time well spent.
